During a trip to a new place it’s easy to buy things blindly and at very expensive prices due to lack of information. To avoid the disappointment of running out of money before the end of your trip to Paris, I’ll give you some shopping tips

Tip 1:

Take tap water instead of ordering bottled water.

Tap water in Paris is safe to drink).A glass of tap water is almost half the price of the same amount of bottled water (l’eau minerale”) in restaurants.

Tip 2:

Do your purchases in departmental stores: Choose one big Parisian departmental store and do all your purchases there. These stores offer discounts especially to tourists and an additional VAT reimbursements of 12%off if your one day purchase is over 175€.

Tip 3:

Make lunch your heaviest meal during your stay: Many Parisian restaurants offer great deals on fixed price menus for lunch. You can easily get a three course meal for below 15€ (inclusive of all taxes).

Restaurants are supposed to post their menus outside (by law) so you can window-shop then decide the best place for a cheap heavy lunch.
