When visiting Paris for the first time, you might get the impression that French people are rude and anti social and might end up not wanting to share with any French people during your trip. I won’t blame you or the French people because this is just a case of misunderstanding; they also think you are rude and arrogant and that you probably have never known etiquette! (The same way you thought of them)
To avoid such anti climaxes during your trip, let me give you some tips on how the French people expect you to carry yourself as long as you are with them:
Tip 1:
Ettiquette
When purchasing anything in a Parisian shop you have to start by greeting the person serving you and when you are done you have to say thank you. This means you should learn the French Phrase for thank you, good bye, please and of course their greetings .i.e.
- Bonjour – Hello. Always followed by the formal (by US standards) Monsieur (male), Madame (female), Mademoiselle (young female)
- Au Revoir – Goodbye
- S’il vous plait – please
- Merci – Thank you
Tip 2:
If you are not French learn to inform the people you are talking to so that they don’t get the impression that you are ignoring them. This also comes in handy when you are shopping so that the person serving you can speak to you in English if they can. This means you learn the French Phrase for
“I don’t understand French” i.e. – Je ne parle pas francais. En anglais, s’il vous plait – I don’t speak French. In English, please?
Tip 3:
When you order something in a Parisian café and they take too long to serve you, don’t start complaining aloud because unlike in your place where you grab a cup of coffee in a hurry, in Paris (France in general) you take your time during coffee to talk to people and socialize.Instead, go some minutes earlier if you have important places to visit because the service will definitely take longer than you are used to.

The French from all parts of the country, and thousands tourist from around the world, flock to Paris to join the festivities.
Tips for Best Accommodation Place during Bastille Day.
The best place for accommodation is to find a hotel / hostel near Champs-Elysees. The reason is it is where the Military parades are held. To truly feel the spirit of Bastille Day, go to one of the military parades. The most popular one takes place on the Champs-Elysees, where the crowd gathers early to see the French troops in full military uniform carry the symbol of France, the French flag.
If you cant find hotel accommodation near Champs-Elysees, dont worry. Paris has a reliable transport network and you can easily get anywhere from your hotel.
But think big! Plenty of activites are held to celebrate the day. Research on what events will take place on that day and list down which of the parades you wish to attend.
