Traveling by bus in Paris is relatively cheaper than by metro or taxi.It is also very convenient and very hard to confuse you compared to metro.

Paris bus cards are cards that help travelers choose the right bus especially non -Parisians.

The cards normally indicate the number of the bus route ,Beginning and ending destinations of the route,General direction of the bus ,Name of the bus stop and major sights along the bus route on the card. There are 24 cards which you can purchase as a traveler and you can easily get all guidance about major tourist destinations and their bus routes. The first card indicates where you can buy bus tickets. It is advisable to buy all the cards that contain information on the places you are planning to visit or buy all of them (they are small and easy to carry around).Consult at your hotel for information on places where you can buy theses cards.

When traveling it’s good to know how the place you are about to visit looks like and at least put yourself in the mood for the things you expect there. If you happen to be visiting Paris during spring, you need to prepare to visit major tourist destinations but also be for the following:

There is excitement in the city as everyone  comes out to enjoy the light that was once hidden by the winter weather.People stroll along the streets and others lie on grass in Packs.

If you love nature and things like flowers and green grass, then you will have the most fantastic moments of your life here.Flowers bloom and trees and grass regain their green glamor.

Picnics during spring turn out to be very successful and romantic. You can prepare yourself for one in a nearby park and increase your spring  fun.

You will also get to enjoy outdoor food markets along the streets of Paris. There is nothing better than smelling sweet aromas as you walk on the streets and you don’t have to keep looking fo cheap restaurants;the outdoor sales are very considerate of your pocket.

Lovers of cycling are also bound to have great moments because Paris offers top conditions for city cycling.Bicycles and motor bikes can be hired so there’s nothing to worry  about.

Now you know! Am sure you won’t feel out of place if you land in Paris during spring.

It’s sometimes very difficult to decide on what activities to do to make your Paris trip enjoyable and economical. You can go to major tourist destinations like Eiffel Tower or go skating or maybe attend an Opera .One thing common with these places for us tourists is that we have to pay something quite huge and spend limited time and if not, spend our day bearing the noises made byeveryone. So I was thinking of how I can make my own romantic, quiet and Peaceful getaway in Paris that is economical .This is how I came up with the idea of having a Picnic in one of the parks in Paris.

Parks are cheap to get into and the only thing you need for the picnic is maybe a mat, some drinks and snacks. Once you are in the park you can stay as much as your time allows and it is also very safe because there is no crowding.

Paris has many parks almost in every arrondissement.Below are some parks you can choose from depending on the area you are staying:

Jardin du Palais Royal (1st arrondissement)

Ile Saint-Louis (4th arrondissement

Square Tino Rossi (5th arrondissement)

Rue de Seine, square G. Pierne (6th arrondissement)

Parc du Champs-de-Mars (7th arrondissement)

Parc Monceau (8th arrondissement)

Parc de Bercy (12th arrondissement)

Parc André Citroën (15th arrondissement)

Parc de Bagatelle (16th arrondissement)

Parc de la Terlure (18th arrondissement)

Parc de la Villette (19th arrondissement)

Parc de Belleville 20th arrondissement)

Next time you are in Paris and Eiffel Tower is really crowded; go for a picnic if you had no other plans.

Taxis are said to be very useful especially when you don’t know Paris very well or are not sure which metro to go to. You should however be very careful with taxis as they can easily ruin your trip to Paris if you are not keen. Below are some guidelines on how to identify and hire a Parisian taxi:

Tip 1:

All licensed taxis have a sign on the roof (“Taxi Parisien”) which is used to identify them as taxis If a taxi doesn’t have this sign, don’t use its services as you will be making yourself vulnerable to many risks such as robbery or assault

Tip 2:

If the sign on the roof of a taxi is lit up, then the taxi is free and you can hail at it to stop.Alternatively, you can go to a taxi rank and hire on from there.

Tip 3:

The charges for the taxi service are displayed on a display meter so don’t go around asking (Someone can take advantage of your ignorance)

Tip 4:

If you are planning to go to a place during very early morning hours or late in the evening, it’s advisable to call one of the major taxi companies to send you a cab at your hotel. The streets can be quite unsafe depending on the place you are staying.

Paris being a city like any other city in the world has its own set backs and you might find yourself  a victim of maybe theft, or   harassment. Sometimes you have other emergencies like sickness or poisoning and you are not able to get help from people along the streets (Anyone can fear strangers and they are not excluded)

This is why you need to have the numbers below to access instant help in during your stay in Paris.

  • Paris Medical Emergencies: Dial “15″
  • Paris Fire brigade: Dial “18″
  • Paris Police: Dial “17″
  • Paris Drug Info Service: 0 800 23 13 13
  • Paris Poison treatment center: 01 40 05 48 48
  • Sexually-transmitted diseases: 01 40 78 26 00
  • SOS Médecins (doctors): 01 47 07 77 77
  • SOS Dentaire (dentists): 01 43 37 51 00
  • SOS burns (Hospital Cochin): 01 58 41 41 41

It’s wiser to call the numbers instead of putting your trust in strangers who might as well take advantage of you. It’s also wisest that you be sure that the places you intend to stay or visit are secure before booking a hotel.

Hotels offer guidance to tourists so don’t hesitate to ask for help whenever you are not sure of anything.

Have you ever arrived in  a foreign country rich and went out of it very poor not because of shopping, but because the local banks found a way of  ”stealing money from your credit card”? You are not the only one to have such a bad experience because almost everyone makes that mistake. That’s why I found two great tips to give you  so that the next time you are in Paris or whichever part of the world, your costs will go down.

Tip 1:

Change your money in your country and carry it ready to your destination:You are aware of the local rates which reduces the risk of any unscrupulous  under-goings.

Tip 2:

If you don’t change your money for whichever reasons, avoid relying on your credit card-  some banks block your credit card when they detect any unusual transactions and these include foreign ones.Instead, use your ATM or debit  card .ATM/debit card is not only cheaper but also convenient as you can access an ATM 24 hours a day.ATM s are also found everywhere including airports.

The truth is more travellers are carrying more stuff in their travel bag: Clothes, books and electronic gadgets. The more stuff you carry the more bags you need and the higher the cost of your travel. Most if not all airlines charge for extra buggages.

One way you can avoid carrying extra bags is to learn how to use the space in your bag efficiently: Pack more stuff in one bag.

Rolling your clothes travel tip.

Instead of folding your clothes, roll the clothes. When you roll your clothes instead of folding them you will be surprised how much space you will save. That space can be used pack electronic gadgets that might have required an extra carry bag.
